WE BELIEVE IN THE
While we continue to work towards a more sustainable supply chain, we also have a part to play in the protection of the environment. The Leuser National park happens to be the largest carbon sink in Asia, but is threatened by logging and accelerated expansion of palm oil plantations.
So why plant trees?
1. Playing our part in combating global warming and the rising of Earth's temperature
2. Staying true to our vision of supporting local communities through forest re-generator projects in North Sumatra
OUR PLANTING PARTNER
Since 2016, Hafizah have been working with Mr Tahar Jumaat, founder of IUVA.SG for a number of conservation projects at the Leuser National Park in Sumatra. IUVA.SG is well-known for their nature immersion programs, reforestation and tree-planting initiatives, as well as humanitarian projects around Indonesia.
This started a job for Hafizah; training and preparing youth leaders to embark on conservation projects miles away from home. The trips lead to a deeper appreciation for the ecosystem and the understanding that there is a delicate balance in nature that every individual is responsible for. For that she owes it the ranger and guides from Nature for Change; for their sincerity and dedication towards protecting a part of the Leuser National park, and the commitment to create awareness for others.

LEUSER ECOSYSTEM: AN INTRODUCTION
Located at the Northern tip of Sumatra near the border of Aceh provinces, the Gunung Leuser National Park covers a vast area of 9727km². It is known as the "only region in the World where four charismatic and critically endangered species - the Sumatran rhino, tiger, elephant and orangutan - co-exist"
The threat that the Leuser ecosystem now face lies in the skyrocketing global demand for palm oil supplies. This pushed industrial plantations deeper and deeper into the heart of the rain forest, altering and destroying the habitat for wildlife. Other pressing issues includes illegal logging, mining and poaching.

A percentage of every purchase from HAFIZAH GHAZALI will go towards small scale reforestation efforts in the Taman Leuser National Park.
To date, we have planted 95 trees since we launched this campaign in July 2019.
Support us in preserving the biggest carbon sink in Asia! :)
