WE BELIEVE IN THE
At HAFIZAH GHAZALI, we believe in the restorative power of tree-planting. While we continue to work towards a more sustainable supply chain, we also have a part to play in the protection of our ecosystem.
Planting trees is one of the most powerful (and easiest) things you can do create a positive impact on the environment. It regulates the climate and combats climate change, cleans the air, prevents soil erosion, enhances biodiversity and restores habitat for native animals.
Sumatra was once a green, tropical paradise that helped Indonesia earn the nickname “Emerald of the Equator”. Sadly, most of the rainforest have been encroached to make way for oil palm plantations, illegal logging, mining and holding areas for elephants in illegal poaching activities.
Some of our planting sites are also located where the four critically endangered species roam freely: the Sumatra rhino, tiger, elephant and orang utan. They are threatened by the loss of food and habitat in areas of the forest that have been violated over the years.
OUR PLANTING PARTNER
People to People, People to Nature
Our planting partner for our forest regenerator projects is IUVA.SG, led by Mr Tahar Jumaat, founder of IUVA Global Pte Ltd. Since 2016, Hafizah have been working with Mr Tahar for a number of conservation projects at the Leuser National Park in Sumatra. IUVA.SG is known for their nature immersion programs, reforestation and tree-planting initiatives, as well as humanitarian projects around Indonesia. More Info on IUVA.SG here.
This started a job for Hafizah; training and preparing youth leaders to embark on conservation projects miles away from home. The trips lead to a deeper appreciation for the ecosystem and the understanding that there is a delicate balance in nature that every individual is responsible for. For that she owes it the ranger and guides from Nature for Change; for their sincerity and dedication towards protecting a part of the Leuser National park, and the commitment to create awareness for others.
Our plant-a-tree projects would be nothing without the wisdom and support of the local organisations and forest rangers. Some of the local organisations that we partner with include Nature for Change and Sources of Indonesia. More than just an eco-initiative, our goal is also to provide employment for farmers and local rangers, and empower them to take charge of the restoration efforts.

The planting sites which we support are spread out across Indonesia, namely: the Leuser National Park, TAHURA (Taman Hutan Raya) and Sungai Tohor.
A percentage of every purchase from HAFIZAH GHAZALI will go towards small scale reforestation efforts in national parks and affected areas of rainforest across Indonesia.
To date, we have planted 4,647 trees since we launched this campaign in July 2019. Our goal in 2020 is to plant at least 5,000 trees by the end of the year.
Support us in preserving the biggest carbon sink in Asia! :)
LEUSER ECOSYSTEM: AN INTRODUCTION
Located at the Northern tip of Sumatra near the border of Aceh provinces, the Gunung Leuser National Park covers a vast area of 9727km². It is known as the "only region in the World where four charismatic and critically endangered species - the Sumatran rhino, tiger, elephant and orangutan - co-exist"
The threat that the Leuser ecosystem now face lies in the skyrocketing global demand for palm oil supplies. This pushed industrial plantations deeper and deeper into the heart of the rain forest, altering and destroying the habitat for wildlife. Other pressing issues includes illegal logging, mining and poaching.
